Location: West of the Province of Río Negro (Patagonia).
The city of San Carlos de Bariloche, founded on May of 1902 on the shores of the Nahuel Huapi Lake, is one of the most populated cities just west (about 1640km) of the capital city of Buenos Aires.
Bariloche is also one of the most important tourist centers of Argentina, not only for its impressive architectural features, but also because it sits in the privileged province of Río Negro where beautiful landscapes made up of mountains, woods, lakes, glaciers, and exuberant flora abound.
Its characteristic architecture consists of buildings made from stones and wood with slated gabled roofs that give the city very special individualistic feature. Among the most outstanding buildings we can mention is the Civic Center, current seat of the main official organisms.
Within Bariloche’s main avenues one can find a variety of shops and commercial shopping centers, cafeterias, and restaurants. The city also has an energetic busy night life.
It is famous for skiing but also great for sight-seeing, water sports, trekking and climbing.
During the summer, beautiful beaches such as Playa Bonita and Villa Tacul welcome sun-bathers and some brave lake swimmers (the waters, from melting snow, are always very cold!).
