The passion that Spaniards and Latin Americans have for fútbol (soccer) is famous around the world, along with the recognized valor of these countries’ fútbol clubs: Real Madrid, Boca Juniors, F.C. Barcelona, River Plate; and the national fútbol teams where we can find la Selección Española (Spanish National Team), la Argentina (Argentinian National Team) or la Mejicana (Mexican National Team).
However, these last few years, Spain has found itself to be a country with a large number of elite athletes, tournament winners and other top figures who play in various sports specialties with many of its athletes participating in foreign teams, as it occurs to the National Spanish Basketball Team whose members like Pau Gasol or José Calderón play in some of the best teams of the NBA; and other top individual players popular in their field, as is the case of Rafa Nadal in tennis or Fernando Alonso in Formula 1’s race car driving.
